What kind of school is Winsor?
Winsor is a girls' day school in Boston. Its first year is grade 5, which the school calls Class I; grade 6 is Class II. Every applicant does a preliminary application, a parent Zoom interview, a group interview and a small-group campus tour.
Does Winsor admit grades 5 and 6?
Grade 5: yes. Class I is a primary entry point.
Grade 6: yes. Class II is a primary entry point as well. The school does not publish how many places each grade has.
Does Winsor ask for the ISEE? Can the SSAT stand in?
Grades 5 and 6: required, ISEE only. The school says applicants entering grades 5–8 take the ISEE and applicants entering grades 9–11 take the SSAT. Register for the ISEE no later than January 15, 2027.
The school recommends scheduling the test for October or November. It considers every score submitted and does not combine the best sections of different sittings.
Does Winsor publish score ranges?
No. The school says it does not publish average GPA data or standardized test scores. It reviews transcripts, test scores, teacher recommendations, essays and the group interview together.

How do the interviews and tour work?
After the preliminary application, families book three things in Ravenna: a parent Zoom interview, a group interview for the child (required, on select dates only), and a student-led small-group tour on a school day. The child comes to the tour with a parent.
The application page lists tours from October 13 to January 11; the events page says October 13 to January 9. Book the earlier end date to be safe.
How to prepare
Grade 5 and grade 6 applicants both take the ISEE Lower Level. Winsor's own advice is to test in October or November. Because the school considers every score submitted, book the sitting for when your child is ready. How often a child may sit the ISEE is covered in our ISEE guide.
Glentavo's practice tests follow the ISEE Lower Level format.
