How many times can my child take the ISEE, and what do schools see?

Short answer
A student can register once per testing season — fall, winter and spring/summer — so up to three times a school year. Families choose which schools receive scores. Each school gets the complete report for the test sent, and the report does not show how many times your child has tested.
The three testing seasons
| Season | Months |
|---|---|
| Fall | August – November |
| Winter | December – March |
| Spring / Summer | April – July |
One test per season means a child who tests in September cannot test again until the winter season starts in December.
Choosing which schools receive scores
- Families add schools to the score recipient list, either at registration or after seeing the score report.
- Schools can be removed until the test starts; once your child begins the exam, the list for that test is fixed.
- Adding a school after the report is posted carries no extra fee.
- A school does not see which other schools received the report.
What a school receives
- The complete report for that test — not selected sections, and not sections mixed from different test dates.
- A copy of your child's essay (families do not receive one).
- The report does not show how many times your child has tested in the admission cycle.
Online test scores are usually posted in three to five days; paper tests for grades 5–12 take five to ten days. Check each school's deadline for receiving scores, not just its application deadline.
How schools treat more than one test
That is up to each school. The test provider's guidance to schools says students should have more than one chance when the stakes are high, describes using the best result from each section across sittings as a research-supported practice, and asks each school to apply whatever policy it picks consistently. Ask each admission office how it handles more than one report.
A retest is a full new sitting. Results can move a little between sittings even when skill has not changed, which is one reason the report shows a band rather than a single point.
Where Glentavo fits
In Glentavo you set the test date and the calendar is laid out to that date. If your child is testing again in a later season, plan the second date the same way. Each package's practice tests are different papers, so a practice test is never repeated.
