Short answer

Yes. The ISEE can be taken at home, online only, with a parent or guardian in the home for the whole test. It can also be taken in person — at a member school, an ISEE testing office or, for grades 5–12, a Prometric test center. The test content and timing are the same everywhere.

Testing at home, in order. Filled: the test and the score report. Hollow: the set-up steps that make the day work.

What testing at home requires

  • Download the testing application and connect a second camera.
  • Complete a practice check-in at least three days before test day to confirm the computer works.
  • Start check-in 30 minutes before the scheduled time; no one can check in once testing has started.
  • Have four sheets of scratch paper and two pencils or pens in the room.
  • A parent or guardian stays in the home for the whole test. The test provider is not responsible if the home internet connection drops.

Choosing between them

The test is the same in every location, so the choice is practical. A few questions families find useful:

  • Does your child settle better at a familiar desk, or focus better in a formal room?
  • Is your home internet reliable for about three hours, and do you have a second camera ready?
  • Paper or online? On paper your child bubbles answers and handwrites the essay; online they click and type. Practice in the format your child will use.
  • Is there an in-person date near you before your schools' deadlines? Registration is first-come, first-served.

Late arrivals cannot check in and must reschedule, which carries a fee, so plan the morning with time to spare.

Where Glentavo fits

Glentavo practice tests run online in the browser, timed, with typed essays — close to the online format whether your child tests at home or at a center. If your child will test on paper, add some practice bubbling answers and handwriting an essay in 30 minutes.
